OLYMPIC GAMES: London 2012

       OLYMPIC GAMES: London 2012!!!
The XXX Olympic Games will be held between July 27 and August 12 of 2012 in the city of London, England. This will be the first city to host the Olympics three times having been hosted in 1908 and in 1948 respectively.
The most ancient symbol and important of the Olympic Games is the Olympic torch. The Olympic torch was presented to the public on 8 June 2011. Its design resembles a gold mesh, and contains eight thousand holes representing the number of carriers and the distance in miles of the trip until the day of the inauguration (12,800 km). Its creators were Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.

Their triangular shape has several meanings:
  • The Olympic values of "respect, excellence and friendship"
  • The olympic motto "faster, higher, stronger"
  • The number of times that the city has hosted the Olympic Games, and
  • The work areas of London 2012: "sports, education and culture".
The official mascots of the Olympic and Paralympic Games are Wenlock and Mandeville. They were created by the company Iris and submitted on May 19 of 2010. According to the story, both were born out of the drops of steel falls in the construction of the last support beam of the Olympic Stadium in London.
The mascots names relate to two British towns of significance for the Olympic movement. The name of Wenlock is based in the town of Much Wenlock, located in the county of Shropshire, where took place the Wenlock Olympic Games, organized by William Penny Brookes and one of the inspirations for the baron Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic movement. The name of Mandeville, meanwhile, refers to Stoke Mandeville, in the county of Buckinghamshire.

  3. It would be an excellent idea and travel to London to see our athletes compete. I tell them I was finding out the prices of flights to go on a trip to London and encourage our selection. I pass a few.
Several companies operating flights to London, for example: American Airlines, TACA, Lan and others. The value of the round trip is more or less between 3500 and 5000 dollars, depending on the number of calls we make. When the bags are ready ....... we travel!!!! Yes!!!!

  4. Very nice Mariana posting. the truth that the Olympics is a single instance for all athletes.
Is unfortunate that in UruguY the authorities did not give it the importance it deserves and not be given to athletes conditions for adequate preparation.
